Previous partnership networks

The SUSCOMNET project takes into account the current situation, as well as existing and recent developments, approaches, and results in the fields of sustainability, climate neutrality, and European integration. By building on the experiences and outcomes of previous projects, the current initiative ensures its relevance and contributes to addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by the European Green Deal and the Future of Europe at the local level.

The city of Gyula has extensive experience in organising twinning cooperation networks. Its previous projects have also addressed topics relevant at both local and European levels, such as:

  • In 2012: “International Forum for the Exchange of Experiences to Promote Intergenerational Cooperation” (GENSOL 528703-EFC-1-2012-1-HU-EFC-NTT),
  • In 2014: “Work and Family – Thematic Network of Local Authorities” (EFAMNET – 49685-EFC-1-2013-2-HU-EFC-NTT),
  • In 2015: “Local Citizens in European Public Life – Network for the Strengthening of Civic Participation” (LOCPAR – 558765-CITIZ-1-2014-2-HU-CITIZ-NT),
  • and in 2017: “Network for the Success of Social Entrepreneurship” (SEECNET – 582706-CITIZ-1-2016-2-HU-CITIZ-NT).

The SUSCOMNET project is a continuation of this collaboration spanning more than a decade, with particular emphasis on the issue of climate change, which has now become one of the most significant social and economic challenges.

Innovation and Approach

The project builds on previous activities in the fields of sustainability, climate neutrality and European integration, incorporating the lessons learned and best practices from those initiatives. Its innovative character lies in the complex, multidimensional approach that combines surveys, workshops, thematic meetings and forums to foster dialogue on sustainability challenges and opportunities.

The project is also innovative in that it conducts a comparative analysis of the local manifestations of sustainability across different countries, thereby strengthening its international and innovative character.

The project complements the work of organisations active in the fields of sustainability, European integration and civic participation by providing a platform for cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange. It does not duplicate existing initiatives, but rather enriches and expands them, fostering dialogue and collaboration among European citizens, municipalities and civil society organisations.
